The Brazilian astronomical community is already involved with observational astronomy using large and modern telescopes. The systematic access to the Gemini and SOAR telescopes has triggered new programs and attracted young astronomers. This workshop, the second of a series of GMT Brazilian community meetings,  is the opportunity to discuss in detail how to better use these facilities, specially when new spectrographs built in Brazil (SIFS, Steles and AO-FP/BTFI) are starting operations, and to prepare for the future giant telescopes such as the GMT.
